For this theory i don't think that it will benefit me when it comes to media as it more states facts and doesn't really tell me anything that could help me improve in media studies howver i did find it interesting to research.

 

 In class today we worked on improving our magazine analysis and explored the connotations of this magazine. We worked in groups and had discussions about each piece of information for example the masthead we all decided that the sans-serif tells the consumer that this is a modern magazine and is also powerful the connotations of the colour yellow immediately makes us happy however the mes-en-scene contrasts the masthead as it is a mute grey which is very dull and shows connotations of what life in the future could become very miserable due to human actions.  Reflecting on my own first attempt this lesson has helped me understand where this information has come from, this has helped me improve my future analysations further.  Moving forward i can see how important these decisions are when constructing a magazine and will keep this in mind when i construct my own magazine. 

                                                     My thoughts on semiotics: Researching semiotics  has really brought a light to how the media is created and how smart it actually is. The fact colour has a meaning when choosing brand designs really surprised me like for example Spotify is green because green is seen to be a peaceful colour and a large proportion of the population use Spotify to listen to music and/or podcasts to relax themselves. 

                                                              Labelling a magazine cover reflection: By labelling the front of this magazine cover i have learnt the terminology for magazines and learnt why there is a lot of information on the front pages of magazines. For this blog i don’t think I could have made it look more attracting as there isn’t much else to put on this blog. I think the most important part of this magazine cover is the main image as it is the first thing viewers are likely to see so it is important for the main image to be relatable to the viewer as they will be more intrigued by it and more likely to purchase it. Another main feature on this front cover is the masthead which is the main title,  this is an obvious point but the masthead gives the viewer information about the whole magazine so is important ...

                                                           Magazine genres reflection: I think compared to my last blog i have made this one much more colourful and more inviting to look at.

  Types of magazines reflection: i think by covering this section i have found out that the magazine industry is quite flexible however i dont see how knowning this can help me in my media studies at this current moment in time.
